Pharmac India 2018, IDMA GSB’s flagship exhibition dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry was inaugurated by the august hands of Shri Arvind Kukrety Deputy Drug Controller, CDSCO Ahmedabad Zone, Mr.V.R.Shah Dy.– Commissioner, FDCA Gujarat, and Shri Amit Bakshi CMD, Eris Lifesciences in presence of its event partner GCCI’s President Shri Jaimin Vasa, Shri Deepnath Roy Chowdhary- National President, IDMA, Shri Daara Patel –Secretary-General-IDMA, Dr. Viranchi Shah-, Chairman IDMAGSB, on 25th October 2018 at The Arena, Transstadia, Eka Club, Opp. Kankaria Lake of Ahmedabad. Dr.Shrenik Shah, General Secretary, IDMAGSB invited dignitaries to take chairs on the dais.
Dr. Viranchi Shah - Chairman of IDMA GSB, welcomed dignitaries, stakeholders, Guests & invitees. In his speech gave a brief idea about the prospects of growth in the Pharmaceuticals Industry in Gujarat. He expressed optimism due to correction in taxes owing to GST, International demand for low-cost products from India, and advantages inherent to Gujarat. Dr. Jaimin Vasa, President – GCCI & also an event partner of Pharmac - 2018 elaborated, about the role of GCCI in Pharmac-2018 “GCCI had open a special cell & hired a Sr. Consultant especially to give guidance for state/central Govt. benefit to MSME/SME” narrated in his speech.
Shri V.R.Shah - Dy. Commissioner-FDCA-Gujarat congratulated IDMA for successfully hosting Pharmac in Gujarat for several years. He also spoke on the various achievements of the FDCA Gujarat and also highlighted his views on “WHO GMP and BEYOND” guiding how the Gujarat-based industries can excel. He ensured Govt. of Gujarat shall extend its fullest support to the Pharma sector. Shri Arvind Kukrety appreciated IDMA for organizing Pharmac as well several other exhibitions and seminars that promote the industry. He shared his views on “WHO GMP and BEYOND”. He highlighted 4 important pillars that a manufacturer can focus on in order to build robust quality systems to meet the new challenges and expectations.
Shri Amit Bakshi spoke on the huge opportunities that the Gujarat-based industries would get in the GST era. He highlighted how GST will play a leveler in the taxation and how Gujarat is expected to reach its original contribution of over 40% in the Pharma formulations manufacturing sector in the coming years owing to GST. He spoke on various avenues that the manufacturers can explore in order to grow. His view about its own Manufacturing, Developing & Marketing of cardiovascular; anti–diabetes; vitamins; gastroenterology and gynecology Drugs” Our focus has been on developing, manufacturing and marketing products which are linked to lifestyle related disorders that are chronic in nature and are treated by a super specialist and specialist doctors.
Shri Deepnath Roy Chowudhary appreciated IDMA GSB initiatives and teamwork in organizing Pharmac. He appraised the industry on the recent regulatory changes and steps taken by IDMA at the national level to represent IDMA’s voice vis-à-vis the proposed regulatory changes. Senior QC/QA Managers from Big Pharma companies like Sun, Torrent, J.B.chemicals, Corona Remedies, and Saga Lab had visited exhibitions & parted in BSM. Sr. Managers were presented mementos by Pharmac committee members. Shri Chirag Doshi Chairman - PHARMAC Sub Committee - IDMA GSB said that the 9th edition of Pharmac was powered by industry-specific conferences and seminars and reverse buyer-seller meets. He shared various facets of Pharmac and newer initiatives taken by the Pharmac sub-committee.
He presented a vote of thanks. He thanked dignitaries, past IDMA Presidents, Stakeholders, IDMA GSB members, Executive committee members, and GSB staff members for attending, Participating, and making the exhibition a grand success. The initiative is being led by the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA), Gujarat State Board, and trade fair specialist Orbit Exhibitions. Over 8000 visitors and delegates visited PHARMAC 2018 exhibitions held between 25 to 27 October 2018.
